Since 1946, with the exception of a few years in the 1990s, the Cleveland Browns have played in two stadiums adjacent to Lake Erie, Cleveland Municipal Stadium (1946-1995) and Cleveland Browns Stadium (now known as Huntington Bank Field) since 1999. The Browns were one of many NFL teams that opened a new stadium in the late 1990s and early 2000s. While most diehard Browns fans are content with the current stadium, it lacks amenities found in newer stadiums including a dome that would allow the team to host events year-round. Over the past decade the Browns have sought to significantly renovate their current stadium or build a new one.
In August 2024, the team unveiled plans for a proposed new stadium in Brook Park, approximately 12 miles southeast of downtown Cleveland. In late 2025, the Browns finalized an agreement to construct the $2.4 billion facility. The new Huntington Bank Field will anchor a transformational mixed-use development featuring residential, retail, and additional entertainment amenities.
The stadium will incorporate a sloped, transparent roof and a partially below-grade design, allowing it to host a wide range of events beyond Browns football. With a seating capacity of approximately 67,000, the venue will prominently feature the iconic Dawg Pound. Construction commenced in spring 2026, and Huntington Bank Field is projected to open for the 2029 NFL season.
